Be The Camera: Showing The Story and Reporting The Fiction.

Here's a man who can tell a story and it's all in the details. For this fiction workshop, John Jeter will recount how personal experiences have provided fodder for his writing. As a reporter travelling to Vietnam, China and Hong Kong and beyond, as a kidney-transplant recipient and as a music promoter, John has honed a keen eye. He will talk about methods of “showing” your story rather than telling. He'll teach you how to turn on that inner camera to vividly capture lives your readers will recognize and care about.

John is a former editor and reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, San Antonio Express-News and St. Petersburg Times, with a master's in journalism from Columbia University. He's travelled all over the world. He's been on Oprah! He and his wife, Kathy, run The Handlebar, a concert venue in Greenville SC. , that has presented dozens of Grammy Award winners and nominees, half dozen Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers, among them John Mayer, Joan Baez, John Hiatt, David Sanborn, Ricky Skaggs, and Janis Ian.

Prepare to be entertained by his humor. John Jeter's novel, The Plunder Room , a compelling story about one man's mission to preserve his family's ideals of honor and loyalty was published in 2009 by St. Martin's.
