Georgann Eubanks

February 13

Many Beginnings

Fiction, non-fiction or poetry writers are all welcome at this workshop designed to get you started on new material or take a fresh approach to something you've been wanting to write about for a while. Georgann Eubanks will lead this session called “Many Beginnings,” gently guiding participants through a series of sensory-based writing prompts to tap memory and imagination and give new juice to your writing. The exercises will help both beginning and seasoned writers explore new character development, scene development, dialogue, description, and rhythm.

Since 1989 Georgann has served as director of the Duke University Writers Workshop, a weeklong creative writing program for adults. She has taught writing as a guest artist in public schools, prisons, at UNC-Chapel Hill, and in a variety of corporate settings. She has published short stories, poems, reviews, and profiles in many magazines and journals including Oxford American, Bellingham Review , Southern Review , Duke Magazine , Boston Globe Sunday Magazine , and North American Review . Georgann Eubanks is one of the founders of the North Carolina Writers' Network and a past chair of Arts North Carolina and the North Carolina Humanities Council. She is the author of Literary Trails of the North Carolina Mountains and soon to be released, Literary Trails of the North Carolina Piedmont from UNC Press.
